Patio Shmatio

Hey there!

Sorry it's taken me so long. I think of all these wonderful things to say on my blog when I am driving around town and then when I actually get home my mind goes blank! Anywho- enough about that!

Let's see the biggest news is our new patio I like to refer to as our giant gateway to the great outdoors! It's all red flagstone and wraps around half of the perimeter of our house. At first I was a little freaked by the size of it but now I am getting used to it (ow that there is furniture and such.) We did buy a patio table a few weeks ago at Home Depot but it was one of those moments when your kids are in meltdown mode, there's no salesperson for ailes and you grab anything and everything just to get the hell outta there? So we wound up with this cheesy ass table and chair set that would have looked more appropriate in the backyard garden of a woman named Esther and her toy poodle Foo Foo. After Andrew spent all afternoon putting the friggin thing together..I just couldn't take it anymore so I asked him to return the set. (not the easiest item to return when you don't own a truck) So I sent him on his way and told him to just pick something else out that had simple lines. Well by golly he DID! He found the perfect table and chair set so now I am happy again! Pictures to come, I promise this weekend!

OK before I forget-what IS IT with CONTRACTORS?! You have an agreement, you sign a contract clearly stating what you agree to and then they try to do the old switch-a-roo! So this patio experience.. the guy comes out the 2 weeks after the patio was due to finish ( apparently his truck broke down so he couldn't finish the job all week- a likely story) plus he forgot he used that excuse earlier on w/ me. Perhaps if you are hauling heavy flagstone you might want to get a truck that runs? But anyway- he tries to get me to pay more money the day we pay him in full saying he did all this extra work and I was like " oh NO you don't! I didn't ask you to do that plus you said it was INCLUDED remember?" So we got into it and ultimately he took the remaining 50% of the pay and went on his way. Can you imagine? Then he tried to say the 50% was wrong but thank god I had a copy of the contract ( conveniently he didn't bring me a copy the day of signing or the day of the final payment) Anyway, I don't know why I am rambling on. It feels good to talk smack about the contractor I guess. There! Blah to YOU Contractor Man!

Let's see we are trying to figure out this pre-school thing. The place we really want to enroll Aris has classes 2 days a week for his age group for 2 hrs a day and you guessed it- in the middle of the day. Plus you have to donate your time 5 hours a month since it's a cooperative preschool program which kind of stinks since we have very little time already as a family. I get it though and why it's set up that way. Trying to make it work but who knows. I think we might have to wait another year. I would gladly pay more money to not have to donate my time but they weren't warming up to the idea....

My job- crazy, unpredictable, hysterical. Enough said. I do get excited when my contact totals match ( do you think that's weird?)

Avery and Aris continue to be boys. I almost wrote about another poop story but I will spare you this entry.

Aris told me he loved me yesterday- that was pretty cool.

Forest my dog is starting to smell like an old sock. I still love him though (except when he breaths hot dog breath in my face when I am trying to relax on the couch.)

I bought new bras this month and can now use the term perky again.
