There's no skill to fishing... just LUCK!

This is by far the best fishing story west of the Mississsippi this summer!
Andy and I entered the Mountaineer Park Annual Fishing competition this past August ( last year I entered and failed miserably however I did manage to get tips from all the old die hards)
This year team Tina & Andy were determined to show up all the old fishermen in the park! We tuned up our poles, bought some power bait , greased up the old pocket fishermen and headed out to the shore at 7am. (Our greedy neighbor had already staked his ground behind our place at 5am ...dam him!) So onward we went! Pretty soon everyone around us was catching fish but us which made us a little nervous but we also had two toddlers running rampid and throwing every rock imaginable in the water- not the easiest conditions for catching fish!
Once naptime hit around noon Andy and I got serious. I came back to the fishing hole with two slices of pizza and a dream of catching a fish...any fish...(even a sucker would do!) At that moment I had a vision...instead of power bait perhaps the fish would like some pizza crust? I threw a little nip of the crust into the water and BAM- Andy catches a fish and then WHOA, ANOTHER IS ON THE LINE! Before I could catch my breath the motherload of all fish came to mama ( er I guess papa because Andy caught it) ...we like to call him BIG OTIS!

OK yes YES FINE! I was a total priss and wouldn't touch the fish. I like catching not touching...I tried to help with my state of the art gripping gloves but the dam things had cut offs at the fingers ( like Michael Jackson gloves) so I freaked. Plus BIG OTIS was the biggest fish I had ever laid eyes on. He was kind of scary flipping and flapping with those big bulging eyes. Now by this time the line had busted because like I said, BIG OTIS isn't playing any games here. He tried to back flip to throw us off but we managed ( ok Andy) managed to grab him and get BIG OTIS back on track . We weren't letting this guy go- OH NO!

Proudly we carried BIG OTIS back to the clubhouse and weighed in. He was the biggest fish of the day for the shore division. ( The boat division got an 19 in Trout) BIG OTIS was 18 inches and weighed in at almost 2 LBS! Check out our totally tacky Trout Trophy at

I'm Tina Sroka and I approve this message.

ok Tina don't you remember the EEL that someone caught in the Saint Lawrence and my Dad was trying to stab it with a little mini pocket knife. I was supposed to be steering the boat and the boat hit the big red Bouy maybe it was Kerry Weaver and not us.
